Lately, I have been feeling anxious and it has been taking a toll on my mental health. I know many BIPOC are feeling this right now because we are more active in either protests or online. This can be draining, especially since we have been fighting this fight most of our lives but now it is amplified due to worldwide support. While it is important for us to keep the momentum that we have gained it is just as important to take care of ourselves and recharge when needed. If you’re an ally it is important for you to hold us up and also remind us to rest while you carry on the work. We can’t do this without you and need you to be there for us emotionally and spiritually.
We are in a marathon, not a sprint. It is important to pace yourself and recognize when you need to slow down or rest. Remind yourself that you cannot give from an empty cup and recharge yourself when needed.
Balance is also recognizing that in the stillness you can find the answers to help you move forward and recharge yourself. When we take the time to listen to the stillness and contemplate our situation we are able to dig deeper into our existence and connect with ourselves.
Make the time for yourself. Find the stillness and allow yourself to connect with yourself and the Divine.
